Join TSJ -- Immigrant Rights and Worker Rights May 1st!

TSJ is mobilizing for the May 1 Immigrant and Worker Rights march.
Our banner and signs will link the attack on immigrants with attacks on
teachers, teacher unions, and public sector workers. This is a critical
time to connect these issues-to bring these movements together and resist blaming immigrants, people of color, and teachers and other workers for the crisis created by Wall St.

PLEASE join the TSJ contingent and bring your students!  Meet under the
TSJ banner in Union Park [Ashland Ave. and Lake St.] at 1:45. The rally starts at 2:00. We will then all march to Pilsen (Plaza Tenochtitlan, 18th and Blue Island), where another rally will start at 4PM.

Illinois Teachers, Unite for Your Undocumented Students!

As most of you know, I'm a teacher and I'm deeply concerned with the future of my undocumented/immigrant students.  The current, broken immigration system is denying them a right to higher education and putting their future in jeopardy. 

I'm looking to get a team of teachers together that support immigration reform so our students have the opportunity to higher education and a successful future.  The intent is to maximize the pressure on Congress by having a teacher-led action in Chicago before the big march in Washington DC on March 21st. We need to provide leadership and advocate for our undocumented and immigrant students, NOW! 

Time is of the essence and I urge you to join me!

Update from Teachers for Comprehensive Immigration Reform:

Hello TSJ friends,

We just got back from the 250,000 Immigration Reform March in DC. Needless to say, I'm exhausted. However, I've come back reenergized!

Illinois Teachers and Educators! Here is your opportunity to advocate for your undocumented students. Teachers know first-hand the impact that the broken immigration system has on our students. Undocumented students deserve to have an opportunity at a real future!

We are currently working on a teacher-led action on April 10th to pressure Congress into passing Immigration Reform this year.  Let’s use the momentum from this weekend’s historic march, get yourself and any other teachers you know to the table. Our work isn’t over yet!
